Photographic exhibition “VERDEPLASTICA – GRÜNSTOFF”

“VERDEPLASTICA – GRÜNSTOFF” a photographic exhibition by Lucrezia Senserini, where the protagonists are the PVC (polyvinylchloride) ties, a plastic material used in agriculture to tie the fruit plant to its support pole, used to create a series of images that constitute a path of reflection on the plastic problem. Guests at the opening were researchers from Eurac Research who presented the EFRE1018 PlasticFree project financed by the European Regional Development Fund 2021-2027 in collaboration with other provincial partners, focusing on micro- and nanoplastic pollution in freshwater environments. The project information poster presented during the opening day remained on display throughout the exhibition.

Following the presentation of the EFRE1018-PlasticFree Project, Riccardo Sbarberi and Lara Nigro from the University of Milan will present their studies on microplastics and the assessment of liquid plastics in freshwater ecosystems.

Workshop for Schools

On the occasion of the World Water Day (22 March), 42 students and 2 teachers from the Scientific high school Leonardo Da Vinci of Trento will participate in an educational activity that will take place from 9:00 to 12:30 in Eurac Research, Viale Druso 1, Bolzano. The workshop includes a lecture on water resources and in particular on the impacts of plastic pollution in aquatic ecosystems, during which the EFRE1018-PlasticFree Project and its activities aimed at identifying and quantifying the spread of various forms and types of plastics in freshwater ecosystems will be presented. This will be followed by a field activity along the Talvera river where the students will learn sampling techniques and actively contribute to a CleanUp collection of plastics along the river banks.
